An ancient funeral site was discovered near Ayacucho
A group of Peruvian archaeologists found tombs and human remains that may have been from the Warpa, a culture that flourished in this northern area of the Ayacucho Region between 250 and 500 AD. The site was discovered in the area called Tukuq Urqu, near the town of Huanta, and according to the archaeologists, some of the 10 tombs found in the area may have also been from the Wari Empire, a culture that thrived from the 6th to the 12th century.
