Museum at Huaca Rajada-Sipan

Visitors to the archaeological sites in Lambayeque, in Northern Peru, can learn more about the history and legacy left by the Moche Culture, called also Mochica, at the Huaca Rajada-Sipan Museum. Flanked by pyramids probably built from 100AD to 600AD, the museum is located at an archaeological site where only 10% has been excavated yet. Most of the pyramids are covered with sand, and are part of a landscape of desert mounts where the secrets of the Moche have being disguised for centuries.

The museum has been equipped with the latest technology in security and conservation, in order to keep safe the treasures found at the site. The building was designed in a way that it does not affect the look of the archaeological site.  And, the locals have been trained to make Mochica-style handicrafts that visitors are able to take home as souvenirs, which benefit their community.
